Chertovshchina on the Russian roads

According to police statistics, a significant part of road accidents in our country is caused by drivers - failed to manage, fell asleep at the wheel, drove the car in a state of intoxication. And only a small fraction of the accident is associated with technical malfunctions of the vehicle.
However, the cause of some accidents is forever and remains a mystery for both their participants and traffic police experts.

Ghosts on the M-53 track
In 1976-1979, a section of the federal highway M-53 between the villages of Nizhny Ingash and Ilansk, which is 20 km east of the city of Kansk, was serviced by the officer of the SAI of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Yegor Troyekurov. The young lieutenant was then amazed at the large number of absurd accidents happening on his site.
Somehow the senior shift, Captain Krotov, told his subordinate that about ten years ago at this place the road made a small detour, skirting the old abandoned cemetery. According to road experts, this represented a great danger for motorists.
The cemetery was razed to the ground, on top of it a gravel mound was made, which was rolled up with quality asphalt. And soon on an even, like an arrow, the track one after another began to happen accident - sometimes ridiculous and inexplicable.
The captain believed that the perpetrators of frequent accidents were the deceased, who were offended by the fact that their refuge was destroyed.
For a long time, Yegor Troyekurov considered the version of his mentor to be one of a multitude of militiamen that old servants like to surprise young people. But one day, being already a major, he almost became a participant in a mysterious accident.

In the autumn of 1983, when Troyekurov served in the department of traffic police of the city of Kansk, he happened to drive late in a rainy evening on a company car along a familiar section of the road. When the car passed Nizhny Ingash, Yegor Ivanovich began to tell his companion the story of the cemetery, which turned out to be under the road.

Suddenly, the headlights caught a faded figure, as if from the air a few meters from the hood of the car. Troyekurov sharply squeezed the brake pedal, and the car spun on a slippery road. Only driver's skill saved from the death of him and the employee sitting next to him.
When the car finally stopped, the men ran out onto the road. However, neither on it, nor next to the track there was no one: the ghost that appeared on the highway, disappeared without a trace.
Satanic impasse
Almost on the border of the Kurgan and Chelyabinsk regions, next to the village of Sart-Abdrashevo, there is a place that people call the "satanic dead end". On a 7 km long stretch of road, there are often two or three accidents a day.
The local crane operator is already so used that when he hears a late night knock at the window, he silently gathers, knowing why his technique is required - to pull out the car that has flown into the ditch. Residents of surrounding villages, who know about this dangerous place, have long been driving around on country roads.

Accidents are mostly non-resident travelers. Those of them who managed to survive after the accident, can not really explain what actually caused the accident. Some people think that at that moment they were under hypnosis.
For example, the driver of a cargo van, which turned over there in August 2004, until the moment of the accident was confident that it was moving straight on its lane with the speed allowed on this stretch of the road. Although eyewitnesses claimed that in fact, his car suddenly began to swiftly take away to the left, until it flew off the highway.
Other injured drivers assured that they saw an obstacle suddenly appeared on the road: livestock, a pile of crushed ballast or even a car moving on them, and then began the feverish maneuvers that led to the accident.
One of the legends of Sart-Abdrashev says that in place of a dangerous section of the road in ancient times there was a pagan sanctuary. In the prewar years, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages believed that in this swampy place devils are found. And only after the construction of the road in 1944, the legends of evil spirits receded into the past, giving way to the sad statistics of road accidents.

Black Echelon on the track in Buryatia
Usually drivers, when they see it along the road, brake and frighten their eyes in fright. And the mirage disappears.About this mysterious phenomenon was repeatedly told by drivers who used to drive along the southern highway of Buryatia in the direction of Ulan-Ude - Gusinoozersk and further - to Kyakhta and Zakamensk.

It is difficult to say that the stories of local residents are true, and that lies, entangled by some mystical visions. However, there is a legend.
It is said that usually at the end of the day, when the departing rays of the sun only lightly illuminate the track, a strange vision appears before the eyes of frightened drivers. Along the road a column of tired and barely moving people, dressed in rags, wanders. And around with a dozen armed people, just as tired and wandering along with the column to nowhere.
Usually, at the sight of this picture, drivers braked and frightened their eyes in fright. Mirage disappears. It was, of course, possible to write off everything for road fatigue. Is it possible that a chauffeur, worn out by the long road, can imagine himself? But the question arises: why do different people observe the same thing at different times? And this has been going on for several years.
Some drivers even talk about the details of the picture they saw. The military, they say, are holding rifles with their bayonets fastened in their hands. And the rags of the people who walk under the escort resemble the clothes of priests - Orthodox and Buddhist. However, it is not possible to make out the color of clothes very much. The column is in the twilight, and therefore all human silhouettes usually seem dark. Therefore, a vision on the road and was called the "black echelon."
The mystery of the mirage is not solved. It is necessary to rely only on the story told by one of the drivers, who not only saw the "train", but also tried to get to the bottom of the mysterious phenomenon. And that's what happened.
The latter is very plausible, since the column, after passing through Ulan-Ude and Gusinoozersk, did not reach either Kyakhta or Zakamensk. There is no historical evidence that large groups of arrested priests arrived in these settlements. Perhaps the "train" was simply shot somewhere in the steppe. Strangely, but together with the prisoners, they say, the convoy also disappeared. What happened to the military, one story is known ...
Since those tragic times, a mysterious phenomenon appeared on the road - the "black echelon", wandering afar. So to speak, ghosts from the past. And one more note to this mystical story, which is often recalled: the priests, who realized that they were being led to death, cursed the road.
Although such actions, of course, are uncommon for clerics, but there is some evidence of the existing curse. This southern route is considered one of the most emergency in Buryatia. It is on it very often there are accidents and people die. And this is a fact of certainty.
